(Dayton 24/7 Now photo of a Dayton Police handout)              DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF) -- A man police describe as a "serial rapist" was       sentenced today to 44 years in prison.              Tiandre L. Turner, 44, of Dayton was found guilty last month to numerous       counts of rape and felonious assault from 2014.              Dayton Police Maj. Brian Johns said today that while they have identified four       victims in this case, investigators believe there are others and he encouraged       anyone with information to come forward.              PREVIOUS COVERAGE:Dayton Police say they've captured serial rapist, but       believe there are more victims              Johns thanked the victims who showed such courage by testifying against       Turner, and to the family of one victim who has since died.              The major also thanked the many people and agencies who helped investigate the       case, including the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and Ohio Bureau of       Criminal Investigation.              Johns said he realizes the impact sexual assault can have, on victims as well       as families. He cited a quote from a victim following the sentencing to       explain why law enforcement does what it does.              "Now my chains are off. He gets to wear the chains that I carried around for       10 years," Johns said the victim told a detective.              Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. said Turner was sentenced on the       following charges:              Four counts of Rape       Two counts of Felonious Assault causing serious physical harm       Five counts of Kidnapping       One count of Assault              “This defendant brutally attacked and raped four complete strangers nearly       10 years ago. Thanks to the excellent work by the Sheriff’s Office and the       Dayton Police Department’s Cold Case Unit, this defendant was identified,       and we successfully        prosecuted him. Finally, the victims will receive the justice they deserve,       with the defendant sentenced to the penitentiary and unable to victimize       anyone else,” Heck said.              If you have information about other victims, you're encouraged to call Dayton       Police at 937-333-2677 (333-COPS) or Miami Valley Crime Stoppers at       937-222-7867 (222-STOP).              https://dayton247now.com/news/local/serial-rapist-sentenced-to-4       -years-in-prison-for-2014-crimes              --- SoupGate-DOS v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
