Lake County Jail photo.              CLEARLAKE, Calif. – A Clearlake man who is a registered sex offender has       been arrested for an April rape and kidnapping.              Michael Ruben Lamar, 25, was taken into custody early Thursday morning on a $1       million arrest warrant issued by the Lake County Superior Court, according to       Clearlake Police Det. Ryan Peterson.              Lamar is the suspect in a sexual assault case reported on April 19, according       to Peterson.              Peterson said that at 6 a.m. April 19 Clearlake Police officers responded to       Adventist Health Clear Lake for a report of an assault victim. On their       arrival, officers contacted the female victim, whose name is not being       released.              The Clearlake Police Department’s investigation Unit was contacted and took       over the investigation, Peterson said.              He said the victim reported that during the early morning hours of April 19       she was sleeping in her vehicle in the 15000 block of Lakeshore Drive when she       awoke to find a male subject standing outside of her vehicle.              Peterson said the woman described the subject as a black male adult in his       20s, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.              The male opened the door to the victim’s vehicle and sexually assaulted her,       then forced her into the trunk of her vehicle and drove her to a remote area       north of the city of Clearlake, Peterson said.              Peterson said the male forced the victim out of the vehicle and again sexually       assaulted her. The assailant then ordered the victim to walk away while he got       into her vehicle and drove away in it.              The victim began walking and was contacted by a passing vehicle, which drove       her to the hospital. Peterson said the victim’s vehicle was later located       abandoned in the 9500 block of Highway 20 in Glenhaven.              A medical examination of the victim was conducted with potential DNA swabs       collected, Peterson said.              During an examination of the DNA swabs by the Department of Justice, Peterson       said a DNA profile for Michael Lamar was located, identifying him as the       suspect in this investigation.              Based on the investigation and DNA profile for Michael Lamar being located,       Peterson said the investigation was forwarded to the Lake County District       Attorney’s Office for review.              On Wednesday, an arrest warrant was issued by the Lake County Superior Court       in the amount of $1 million due to the nature of the crimes and violations       believed to have been committed, Peterson said.              Peterson said Lamar is a registered sex offender and had no listed address due       to the fact he is transient.              The Clearlake Police Department issued a NIXLE alert on Wednesday asking for       the community’s assistance in locating Michael Lamar.              Later that same day, Lamar contacted the Clearlake Police Department via       phone, advising he was aware of the NIXLE alert and that he was going to turn       himself in, Peterson said.              Early Thursday, Lamar arrived at the Clearlake Police Department where he was       taken into custody without incident, according to Peterson.              Peterson said Lamar later was booked into the Lake County Jail on the arrest       warrant, with bail set at $1 million.              Due to the sensitive and confidential nature of the investigation, Peterson       said no further information on the case is being released at this time so as       to not impede or hinder the integrity of the investigation.              Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact Det.       Peterson at 707-994-8251, Extension 320.              --- SoupGate-DOS v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
