Taylor (via IMPD)              INDIANAPOLIS — An Indy man faces several felony charges after he allegedly       strangled a man with an extension cord at his near west side home before       raping his wife several times.              James Jerard Taylor, 42, was arrested last week and charged with rape,       strangulation, criminal confinement and battery in relation to the attacks.       Taylor – who has a lengthy criminal history in Indiana – is now being held       in jail on an $8,000 cash        bond.              Upon arrival, officers saw a woman running out of the back door of the house.       She came into contact with police and told them that a man named James Taylor       had raped her and strangled her husband inside the house.              The suspect, James Taylor, was still on scene when officers arrived. He was       taken into custody while detectives interviewed the female victim.              Officers went inside and found the husband with redness and bruising on his       neck. He was then taken to Eskenazi Hospital by local medics. The husband       later told police that Taylor had threatened him with a knife, beaten him with       a lamp and knocked him        unconscious before strangling him.              The woman told police that she’d met Taylor the night before at a gas       station on Tibbs Avenue, stating that he had “good weed.” The woman       reportedly invited Taylor back to her house to smoke marijuana.              Upon arrival at the couple’s house, the woman said Taylor’s demeanor       immediately changed and that he began demanding money from them. Taylor also       reportedly threatened to “put the woman on the street,” implying that       he’d make her a prostitute.              The woman said that Taylor then became aggressive and forced her to strip nude       and lay down on a mattress in the living room. Taylor then reportedly sexually       assaulted the woman while her husband was forced to watch.              Court records detail how the husband attempted to physically stop Taylor, but       stated that his efforts her thwarted after Taylor choked him out with an       extension cord. The woman said she also tried to fight Taylor and stop the       strangulation, but that he        was too strong.              The woman said that the unwanted sexual fondling then turned into rape,       stating that Taylor used a cell phone to video record her as he forcibly had       sex with her.              After Taylor reportedly fell asleep, the woman said that she left the living       room and called the police. She said that she also went through Taylor’s       backpack and found both his ID and paperwork stating that he’d recently been       at a mental hospital        for “seeing delusions.”              Further investigation       Following her police interview, the woman was also taken to Eskenazi Hospital       to complete a sexual assault exam. Officers on scene were able to locate a       brown extension cord near the bed as well as a utility tool with blood on it       and three cell phones.              After receiving a warrant for a suspect DNA exam, police also took Taylor to       Eskenazi. During this process, detectives asked the suspect if he wanted to       speak about the incident.              Court documents state that Taylor began rambling, claiming that the husband       and wife owed him $12 and that they were all drinking liquid Xanax. He said he       was lying on the bed eating chips when the police arrived.                     [continued in next message]              --- SoupGate-DOS v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
