   MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Kidnapped, raped and assaulted.   
      
   A Whitehaven woman told police that’s what happened to her Saturday when   
   she walked home from work.   
      
   “It’s scary because it’s literally right outside your door,” a neighbor   
   who lives near where the crime happened told FOX13   
      
   Another neighbor shared that she often sees the woman walking in the   
   area: “I see her walking all the time. I didn’t just know her. I just   
   know her from walking and I heard about it last night when I came home.   
   There were police driving up and down Goodhaven.”   
      
   According to an affidavit, an anonymous caller told dispatch that a   
   woman was screaming, being strangled by a man and sexually assaulted.   
   Officers reported finding the victim partially clothed in the bushes.   
      
   “I just thought it was really awful," a neighbor told FOX13. "She was   
   just walking. I saw her. I knew where she worked. I saw her apparently   
   walking to and from work, but it’s just awful.”   
      
   The affidavit also states the victim told police that she was walking   
   home from work when 28-year-old Quinton Burnett grabbed her, forced her   
   into the woods and beat and strangled her before forcing her to perform   
   sex acts.

   This news is leaving people who live nearby both sympathetic and   
   cautious.   
      
   “I was just by myself last night, just getting out of my truck," a   
   neighbor said.   
      
   According to police, the suspect, identified as Burnett, returned back   
   to the scene. The affidavit says police saw him standing in a crowd   
   drinking a bottle of vodka. Detectives also located his cellphone; he   
   also left his shoes.   
      
   Burnett is in custody charged with aggravated rape, aggravated   
   kidnapping and aggravated assault, records show.   
      
   Records allege that Burnett "has a history of assaults."   
      
   He is scheduled to appear in court Monday, March 11, 2024, records show.
