XPost: alt.fan.states.massachusetts, alt.law-enforcement, talk.politics.guns       XPost: sac.politics, alt.fan.rush-limbaugh       From: nuked@dns-nutz.com              HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – A juvenile male was arraigned in connection with       a shooting incident at the Holyoke Mall on July 25, in which he allegedly       shoplifted and produced a firearm, resulting in a shootout with an officer.              In a news release sent to 22News from the Hampden District Attorney’s       Office, at around 4:30 p.m. last Friday, a Holyoke Mall security officer       observed an individual allegedly shoplifting and alerted Holyoke Police       Officers working a detail assignment inside the mall.              The suspect was approached by officers near the Round 1 entrance, where       he allegedly showed a firearm. The suspect and an officer exchanged       gunfire. Holyoke Police say that the suspect, a juvenile, was shot in the       leg. The suspect was provided first aid and brought to the Baystate       Medical Center in Springfield.              The suspect’s firearm was recovered. The suspect, whose name is not       released due to their age, was arrested. On Monday, the suspect was arraigned       virtually in Springfield Juvenile Court. He is being held without the right       to bail. Additionally, the judge ordered bail set at $100,000 cash, without       prejudice. He is scheduled for a court hearing on August 4th.              “This harrowing situation could have ended much worse. Juveniles and guns       is a recipe for disaster,” said Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni.       “The juvenile’s alleged behavior is appalling and we will seek       accountability to the fullest extent of the law. We are grateful that no       innocent people or officers were injured.”              “While this incident can cause fear, the Holyoke Mall is a safe place to       shop and visit. We have officers here to deal with incidents like this and       ensure that the public is safe,” stated Holyoke Police Chief Brian Keenan.              https://www.wwlp.com/news/crime/juvenile-held-without-bail-after-holyoke-       mall-shooting/              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
