I am not a HAM so I may not be the best person to answer this but, if you
search on youtube, you will find some videos of HAMs logging into a HAM
radio "BBS."  Search for "Packet Radio Bulletin Board."

I am sure there are other links as well, but that is the connection that
comes to my mind.
