in this particular case, it is partly due to the bbs package i'm running... it
is also partly (mainly?) due to the fact that i'm using native methods to
connect to my bbs... ssh, telnet, and rlogin are all supported as well as a
few other methods... using those methods directly from the konsole gives me
native support for UTF-8... that would be a lot different if i were using a
terminal application like telix, procomm, and similar... on kubuntu using
konsole even zmodem transfers just work right out of the box ;)
