10. Vintage Recipes

recipes@tias.com if you would like to submit a recipe.

As with collectibles, people also have very strong feelings about foods from
their past.  Sometimes these special recipes get lost.  This section is to help
 people who are looking for lost recipes from their past.  If you submit a
request, please include the geographical region where you tasted the recipe. 
If you have a vintage recipe request send it to recipes@tias.com and we might
just publish it here.

Here's a vintage recipe for "Apple Squares":

Apple Squares

2 eggs
2 c. sugar
1/4 c. oil (Crisco)
2 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. flour
4 c. diced apples
1 c. walnuts, cut chunky (optional)

Beat together the eggs, sugar, oil and vanilla. Add baking soda, salt, cinnamon
 and flour.  Mix well, then add apples and walnuts.  Bake in lasagna size pan
for 50 minutes at 325 degrees.  Frost with Cream Cheese Icing.

CREAM CHEESE ICING:
4 tbsp. soft butter
1 tsp. vanilla
8 oz. cream cheese, soft
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar

Mix together and spread on squares.
