 4. This Week's Stories and Requests for Help We try to post stories and comments from our readers each week. Send your story to newsletter@tias.com and we'll publish it in an upcoming newsletter. Please share your story about what you collect and what got you started collecting. We *love* to hear your stories! If you have a story you'd like to share, tell us about it and if you have any photos, we'd love to see them! Send us an email to newsletter@tias.com so we can share your story with the rest of our readers. Remember that you can check out our Facebook page for some interesting updates. Here's the link: https://www.facebook.com/TIASAntiques If you have photos of items you would like to share you can post them there as well. You don't need a Facebook account to visit our page. If you do have a facebook account please "Like" us! Also, everyday, we post a "This Date In History" story on our Facebook page, along with an item for sale on http://www.tias.com that relates to the event. We're also highlighting one item each day that we find particularly interesting - something that's very unusual! Check it out! Thanks to those of you who have responded in the past! We really enjoy, and appreciate, the feedback! We don't have any stories this week, but we have quite a number of submissions from our readers who are looking for information and/or value of items they've either found while shopping or have inherited. It's always fun to see what other people own and treasure! Although we can't put the pictures in this newsletter, please visit our Facebook page at these links to view the images and learn about these items: Glenda K sent us this: "I FOUND THIS SMALL ORIENTAL HAND DECORATED CABINET AT AN ESTATE SALE RECENTLY, DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT ITS PURPOSE MIGHT BE? THE INSIDE IS LINED WITH WHAT APPEARS TO BE GLASS. IT STANDS 12CÇØ H X 12CÇØW X 9 +'CÇØ D." We're thinking humidor perhaps? Anyone else care to comment? https://www.facebook.com/TIASAntiques/posts/10152813663728656 One of our readers, James S., sent us these pictures and wondered if anyone has any info and/or the value of this item: "Hand Painted Nippon gravy boat" Well that's what it looks like to me anyway. It stands on four gold painted legs. On the bottom is the letter M inside a wreath. The word Nitake (sp) is not written anywhere on the piece which makes me think it is pre 1911. The piece is covered profusely in gold." Can anyone help? https://ww .facebook.com/TIASAntiques/posts/10152809844748656 James S. sent in another item he's having trouble researching: "It is a beautifully painted teapot with a great deal of gold. Unfortunately, it looks as though the stamp or facsimile of was washed away or removed somehow.I have no idea of its origin, but it certainly looks a lot like the other Nippon piece. These were my wife's Great Grandmothers. Thanks again" ttps://www.facebook.com/TIASAntiques/posts/10152811659033656 James S. has one more thing he'd like info about and hasn't been able to find the exact same thing online: "...Saint Augustine Ware plate from England. It has the Merry Maid nursery rhyme on the outside edges. I have found others that are similar, but not this exact one. Several searches online suggested that it was a rare plate. I'm not sure how true that is as I have seen a few different ones." https://www.facebook.com/TIASAntiques/posts/10152813651518656 -------------------------- --- BBBS/Li6 v4.10 Dada-1 * Origin: Prism bbs (1:261/38) |
