NB.  Do you guys still use "pvt," for IP nodes?  Also, the INA is probably
surplus to requirement since your FQDN could've been specified on a -leading-
protocol flag and by default have then been applicable to any following
protocol flags.  Four bytes ain't much of a trade-off.  ;-)
