RW> OTH, the HD battery in my XL has died from being on a trickle charger. RW> According to the local HD dealer, HD gell cells aren't meant to be on a RW> trickle charger? Dunno why not, since my Optima (gell cell) was always on RW> a trickle charger and it lived a very long time that way. I don't have the original battery in my HD. Don't recall the brand, but bought it from the motorcycle dealer where I bought my HD. I just plug it into the trickle charger when I don't ride it for more than a few weeks and it stays on the trickle all winter long. It has been going strong for 6 years that way. Fires right up on the first start in the spring. RW> MH> I might be testing out the Sears warranty this weekend if I can't RW> MH> start the Monte Carlo. I don't know the exact date I bought it, but RW> MH> it was in September of 2009. If it fails in less than (3) years, it RW> MH> is a free replacement. Otherwise, it is pro-rated up to 100 months. RW> MH> We shall see, soon enough. RW> RW> Sounds interesting. Looks like I won't have to test out the warranty after-all. The Monte Carlo started right up this weekend after sitting all week. I think the battery was just getting weak from the corrosion on the terminals - added to the fact that it was sitting for several weeks. RW> Unless your driveway has a grade to it. Then the car parked behind the RW> old RW> car in the driveway has the possibility of crashing into those on the RW> street. My 57 Chevy convertible did that to a friends 57 Nomad. I RW> attributed that to jealousy on behalf of the convertible, but maybe RW> they were in love and needed a touchy-touchy... No grade in the driveway. Eventually, we need re-organize to at least get one of the cars in the garage. My bike and tools take up the other side of the garage. THey just don't make garages large enough. Getting a decent sized vehicle in there, I can't open the refrigerator door, can hardly get out of the vehicle, etc. I don't mind parking outside unless it is pouring down rain and I have loads of groceries to bring in the house. - Mark --- WWIVToss v.1.50 * Origin: http://www.weather-station.org * Bel Air, MD -USA (1:261/1304.0) |
