I just keep my nose away from the nozzle.  :)

My daughter's old car had a fuel line leak right behind the firewall (caused
by rust). That smelled really bad.  That had to get fixed immediately.  

Why Ford made parts of their fuel line out of a metal that rusts is beyond me.
