The only fluid used in a flush is more transmission fluid. New fluid is
introduced to your system while old fluid is flushed into a holding tank
on the flush machine.

It should be 'changed' when it gets dirty. You can do it yourself with a
turkey baster (sp), sucking out what's in the master cylinder and
replacing it with new fluid. Just don't push on the brake pedal in the
process. Eventually the fluid in the lines will sort of recirculate to the
master cylinder and you'll have to change it again. But you'll probably
have a new car by then...
