That's why they used to call horsepower, BHP...Braking Horse Power. That
was a Ford flathead V8 with a little bit of BHP. I did shift down and
ended up double clutching into 1st before pulling the parking brake for a
full stop. Luckily I made it through 3 sets of traffic lights (2nd gear)
and finally stopped in the back parking lot of my favorite hangout; a
Texaco station with a 3 stall garage and two very competent mechanics on
duty ... I was only 17yo, then. I started leaning over fenders, watching
these guys when I was only 13yo...they taught me a lot.
