My 1998 Camaro does the same thing...It has a CD player, but I seldom use
it because I'd rather listen to talk radio, even PBS is acceptable at
times.

My 2002 Silverado doesn't have a CD player, so I improvise when I need
music. I have a small stereo transmitter that plugs into an MP3 player and
it will broadcast an FM Stereo signal to the vehicle's radio. I forget
where I bought that little transmitter, but it was cheap enough.
