I drive a lot (50+ miles a day) and am looking for a car that can hold 4 adults
and 2 kids (4 and 10 years old) comfortably -- occasionally, for short trips.
My parents are getting older, and I'd like to be able to drive them and my
wife/kids places.

I could get a minivan or a full-sized SUV, but I don't want to pay a penalty in
MPG every time I drive. I've been looking at a couple of options:

The Volvo V70 (and CX70 wagons) have a jumpseat in the back. The Mercedes ML320
looks to have a 3rd seat option. One of my long-time favorite cars has been the
Mercedes W123 300TD wagons - although they're getting a bit long in the tooth.

Any suggestions?
