 GM Blower motor noises.

Speaking of Blower motors.

Last spring I replaced the cabin filters that most pickup trucks and most
Tahoes and Suburbans come with.

The Silverado requires two such filters installed back to back, which are
easy to R&R, once you learn how. The first time I did this, there were
two filters in the box, but I couldn't find more than one in the slot
where they go under the dash. This time I was bound and determined to
change both, as I was hearing some noises in the high-speed ranges of the
blower motor.

I finally found it, but it wasn't in plain sight, which is why I missed it
last year. Long story short, I changed them both, but that didn't ease
the blower motor noise. So, I went back to my Silverado manual and found
that I could R&R the blower motor with the removal of one screw and a
twist of the motor housing.

As it turned out, the blower motor was full of leaves that the first
filter had stopped, but they were also the cause of the motor noise and
what seemed to be an 'imbalance' of the squirel-cage fan. I can now use
the blower at full speed and it is like new again.
