I looked into stereos that had retractable screens, but it seemed like ones
with all of the features that I wanted were prohibitively expensive.

Mighty Car Mods modified a Subaru to have an iPad instead of stereo and HVAC
controls.

It could be nice to modify a car to hold an iPad and then bring it in the
house with you, but could you leave the house without your iPad and then not
have any HVAC controls?

What if you lost your iPad--or had it stolen?
