|  Lion Air Crash  |

Indonesian researchers are starting to monitor more than two hours of talks on the cockpit voice recorder of the Lion Air aircraft that crashed in the Java Sea in October. They hope to unravel the cause of the worst aviation disaster in the country in decades. The National Transportation Safety Committee expects the transcription of the 124-minute recording to be completed by Tuesday, Nurcahyo Utomo, the chief investigator at the agency, said Friday. The quality of the recordings of the last flight that took less than 15 minutes is good, he said. The researchers may need two to three months to analyze the recordings, in combination with the findings of the flight data recorder that was recovered in November. The Lion Air aircraft, a Boeing 737 MAX 8, crashed into the Java sea shortly after take-off on 29 October. All 189 people on board were killed. --- D'Bridge 3.99 SR41 * Origin: AVIATION ECHO HQ (2:292/854) |
