|  AF447 (crash from 2009)  |

MSGID: 2:292/854 040c3b19 French investigating judges have decided that Air France will not be prosecuted for the crash of flight AF447 in 2009. The crash is the result of pilot errors, for which the airline cannot be held responsible. The judges thereby go against the wishes of the public prosecutor who wants to press the case against Air France, partly because the pilots were not well trained. Relatives of the 228 fatalities have informed the AP news agency that they are appealing the decision. They are furious and call it "incomprehensible" that Air France is not being prosecuted. Flight AF447 crashed into the Atlantic Ocean on 1 June 2009 during a flight from Rio de Janeiro to Paris. The crash with the Airbus A330-200 has caused a lot of discussion for years. Initially, the accident was attributed to a combination of technical and human failure. Later research put the blame more emphatically on the pilots. In 2012, researchers discovered that the crew was overwhelmed by the emergency that arose from unreliable speed data due to a pitot tube clogged with ice. In itself, the situation had been manageable, but the pilots did not properly assess the situation which occured. The aircraft then stalled and crashed. In line with the wishes of the public prosecutor, Airbus is also not prosecuted for the crash. --- D'Bridge 3.99 * Origin: AVIATION ECHO HQ (2:292/854) SEEN-BY: 1/123 15/2 153/757 221/1 229/354 426 728 1014 240/5832 249/317 SEEN-BY: 249/400 261/38 280/464 292/854 8125 317/3 322/757 335/364 SEEN-BY: 342/200 396/45 633/280 801/188 3828/7 PATH: 292/854 229/426 |
