|  Qantas goes "all the way"  |

MSGID: 2:292/854 0c2b4042 During a test flight with a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, airline Qantas completed the longest direct scheduled flight in a time of 19 hours and 16 minutes. The aircraft flew 16,200 kilometers between New York and Sydney. Flight 7879 departed Friday evening and arrived in Sydney on Sunday morning. There were only forty passengers and ten crew members on board the aircraft. The flight is intended to see the effects of such a long flight on travelers. On the way it was tested what the enormous jet lag does with the passengers and the crew. Qantas has launched a project called "Project Sunrise" within which society is exploring the limits of long-distance flying. The company now maintains a non-stop connection between London and Perth. The following routes that Qantas wants to open are New York - Sydney and London - Sydney; a final decision will be taken before the end of this year. --- D'Bridge 3.99 * Origin: AVIATION ECHO HQ (2:292/854) SEEN-BY: 1/123 15/2 153/757 221/1 229/354 426 728 1014 240/5832 249/317 SEEN-BY: 249/400 261/38 280/464 292/854 8125 317/3 322/757 335/364 SEEN-BY: 342/200 396/45 633/280 801/188 PATH: 292/854 229/426 |
