Scandinavian airline SAS is cutting 5,000 jobs as a result of the corona
crisis. Most of the redundancies are in Sweden, but the Norwegian and Danish
workforce is also being cut.
 
According to SAS, the company is deeply affected by the crisis. At the moment,
the flow is very limited, and the company expects that it will take until at
least 2022 before there is a recovery.
 
Taking into account the notice period of the contracts, SAS wants to act
proactively. Therefore, 1,900 jobs will disappear in Sweden, 1,300 in Norway
and 1,700 in Denmark. Previously, competitor Norwegian was also forced to
expel thousands of people.
 
According to SAS, the number of layoffs can still be adjusted downwards, but
then the corona crisis must stop in the short term.
