|  Delta to phase-out MD88 and MD90  |
|  04 May 20 12:20:05  |
MSGID: 2:292/854 0f183a3f Delta Air Lines says goodbye to the McDonnell Douglas MD-88 and MD-90 as early as June. The American carrier decommissioned the aircraft earlier than planned due to the corona crisis. This concerns a total of 76 aircraft. Currently, half of the air fleet is unemployed, because the number of flights has shrunk considerably. Delta seizes the corona crisis to accelerate the abandonment of older types such as the MD-88 and MD-90. Of the MD-88, which can carry 149 passengers, Delta still has 47 in the fleet. The MD-90, of which only 116 were built, has 158 seats. Of these, 29 are in the fleet. According to Delta, it cannot be ruled out that more aircraft will be phased out in the long term, in order to be able to fly more efficiently with a streamlined fleet after the corona crisis. In addition to the MD-88 and MD-90, Delta also flies the Boeing 717, 737 and Airbus A320 series on domestic routes. --- D'Bridge 4 * Origin: AVIATION ECHO HQ (2:292/854) SEEN-BY: 1/123 90/1 120/340 601 153/757 221/1 226/30 227/702 229/101 SEEN-BY: 229/426 664 1014 240/5832 249/317 400 261/38 280/464 292/854 SEEN-BY: 292/8125 317/3 322/757 335/364 342/200 396/45 633/280 801/188 PATH: 292/854 229/426 |
