The US travel ban will expire on Monday Nov.8th. Delta Air Lines is therefore
noticing a huge interest in airline tickets to the US. Many transatlantic
flights will be 100 percent full on Monday, Delta said.
 
In the past six weeks, the number of foreign ticket sales with the airline has
increased by 450 percent compared to the six weeks before, when it was not yet
known that the US would open again. Delta therefore also expects well-filled
aircraft in the weeks after Monday.
 
"This is the beginning of a new era for travel and for many people around the
world who have not been able to see their loved ones for nearly two years,"
said Ed Bastian, Delta's CEO.
 
"While we have seen many countries reopen their borders to US visitors over
the summer, our international customers have not been able to fly with us or
visit the US. That all changes now. We are grateful to the US government for
lifting travel restrictions and look forward to reuniting families, friends
and colleagues."
 
Delta is increasing frequency on several transatlantic routes this winter. 
 
The US only opens borders to fully vaccinated people. They must also have a
negative test certificate of no more than three days old. Travelers under the
age of 18 do not need to be vaccinated, but they do need to be tested.
