Aeroflot is no longer a Manchester United sponsor. The English football club
says in a statement that it has pulled the plug on the cooperation due to the
current situation in Ukraine. The Russian airline has been a partner of the
club since 2013.
 
"In light of current events, we have terminated the deal. We share the
concerns of our fans and would like to extend our condolences to those
affected," Manchester United said.
 
The sponsor deal was reportedly worth between 45 and 50 million euros.
Aeroflot provided an Airbus A321 with a special Manchester United livery in
honor of the collaboration.
 
Britain banned Aeroflot and other Russian airlines from British airspace as a
result of the war in Ukraine on Friday. The Russians responded by imposing an
overflight ban on British airlines.
