The United States has approved F-16 fighter jets to be sent to Ukraine from
the Netherlands and Denmark once Ukrainian pilot training is completed.
According to a US government official, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken
has informed the two countries by letter. The Netherlands and Denmark provide
the training for the Ukrainian pilots.
 
It may be another year before the F-16s are actually shipped. On Friday it was
announced that the training of the first Ukrainian pilots will probably not be
completed until the summer of next year.
 
Ukrainian fighter pilots are also trained in Belgium on the F16. Separate
training is also handled in the UK and Germany.
