|  Lufthansa reactivates all of its A380s  |

MSGID: 2:292/854 11212357 TZUTC: 0200 Lufthansa had already decided to return six of the eight A380s to service, and now the Germans have chosen to reactivate the last two as well. All aircraft are stationed in Munich. Whether the seventh and eighth A380, which are currently still in Teruel, Spain, would be put back into service was a question mark for a long time. Those aircraft require more maintenance than the other A380s before they can return to service. Despite the high costs, Lufthansa has now decided to reactivate them. The D-AIMA and D-AIMB, the two oldest German A380s (aged 13 years), will return to the active fleet sometime between 2024 and 2025. Lufthansa once had fourteen of these double-deckers, but six of them were sold back to Airbus, leaving eight. The airline retired all A380s at the start of the pandemic, but has been flying them again since this summer. Currently, three A380s have already been reactivated. They fly from Munich to New York and Boston. The Airbuses can accommodate 509 passengers, divided into four classes. --- DB4 - 20230201 * Origin: AVIATION ECHO HQ (2:292/854) SEEN-BY: 1/123 15/0 80/1 90/1 105/81 106/201 123/131 129/305 153/7715 SEEN-BY: 221/1 226/30 227/114 229/110 112 113 307 317 400 426 428 SEEN-BY: 229/470 664 700 280/464 282/1038 291/111 292/854 8125 301/1 SEEN-BY: 305/3 317/3 320/219 322/757 335/364 342/200 396/45 460/58 SEEN-BY: 633/280 712/848 5075/35 PATH: 292/854 229/426 |
