|  Delta Airlines warns ...  |

MSGID: 2:292/854 12323014 TZUTC: 0200 Delta Air Lines warns of the consequences of new tariffs on the import of aircraft and parts. These could force the American airline to stop buying aircraft made abroad, with consequences for millions of customers. The warnings are in messages addressed to the American Department of Commerce, which have been seen by the Reuters news agency. Delta Air Lines reported that it had purchased 47 Airbus aircraft in the past two years that were produced in Canada, Germany and France. If import tariffs had prevented the receipt of these aircraft, this would have led to the cancellation of flights. This would have affected 10 million customers, according to Delta Air Lines. The airline stated that a "similar effect can be expected in the future" if (higher) import tariffs are imposed. The American airline industry is already faced with tariffs of 10 percent on almost all imported aircraft and parts. Last month, the Department of Commerce opened an investigation into the risks to US national security posed by the import of these goods. The results of that study could serve as a basis for even higher tariffs on aircraft, engines and parts. --- DB4 - 20230201 * Origin: AVIATION ECHO HQ (2:292/854) SEEN-BY: 80/1 105/81 106/201 128/187 129/14 305 153/7715 154/110 218/700 SEEN-BY: 221/1 226/30 227/114 229/110 114 317 400 426 428 470 664 SEEN-BY: 229/700 705 280/464 291/111 292/854 2226 8125 301/1 320/219 SEEN-BY: 322/757 335/364 342/200 396/45 460/58 633/280 712/848 902/26 SEEN-BY: 5001/100 5075/35 PATH: 292/854 229/426 |
