The airport near the Italian city of Bergamo was temporarily closed on Tuesday
morning following the death of a man who, for reasons still unknown, was
caught in the engine of a plane. The plane was an Airbus A319 operated by the
Spanish airline Volotea.
 
The exact cause of the accident remains unclear. Some Italian media outlets
have reported the man was a ground employee, but this has not been confirmed.
 
Milan Bergamo Airport is a regional airport primarily used by budget airlines
such as Ryanair.
 
Several flights were delayed or canceled due to the incident.
