Russia has approved serial production of the upgraded Tupolev Tu-214, marking
a major step in reviving its domestic civil aviation industry.
 
Certified by Rosaviatsia, the aircraft now features fully Russian-made
avionics, safety systems, and PS-90A engines under an import-substitution
program. 
 
Production at the Kazan Aircraft Plant will ramp up steadily, with output
expected to reach up to 20 aircraft annually by 2027. 
 
The Tu-214 is intended to support airlines like Aeroflot amid reduced access
to Western jets. Officials say the program strengthens industrial
self-reliance, job creation, and long-term aerospace capability.
