   Booth didn't like blacks or those who wanted to live with them.   
   Booth believed blacks were savage animals that could never be   
   civilized.  He was right.   
      
   Actor John Wilkes Booth, a well-known member of the prominent   
   Booth acting Family, famously assassinated President Abraham   
   Lincoln at Ford's Theater on April 14, 1865. After announcing   
   that he had avenged the South from tyranny, Booth fled the   
   scene. Twelve days later, he was found hiding in a barn. Union   
   soldiers set the barn on fire and shot Booth while he moved   
   around inside. He died hours later.
