XPost: ba.politics, dc.media, soc.penpals       XPost: alt.burningman       From: pelosi@mail.house.gov              By Jaye Ryan       August 27, 2014              Benghazi, Israel, Egypt, Israel, Israel, Germany and more allied       countries betrayed by their well-known and long-lived ally, the       United States of America, taught Egypt and United Arab Emirates       that if you want something done right, ignore the U.S. and do it       yourself.              Diplomatic actions were far from the countries’ leaderships when       they allied together to conduct effective air strikes against       Islamic militias in the Libyan capitol city of Tripoli that,       according to the NY Times, represent              “a major escalation of a regional power struggle set off by Arab       Spring revolts.”              In what is certainly not mistaken as smooth and communicative       and transparent foreign relations, Time magazine reported the       following:              “The United States, the officials said, was caught by surprise:       Egypt and the Emirates, both close allies and military partners,       acted without informing Washington, leaving the Obama       administration on the sidelines.”              The UAE and Egypt appear to be pro-action, letting diplomatic       talks lead nothing along the way, at least not yet. The Islamic       elements don’t yet grant the two countries their attention.              “Since the military ouster of the Islamist president in Egypt       last year, the new government and its backers in Saudi Arabia       and the United Arab Emirates have launched a campaign across the       region — in the news media, in politics and diplomacy, and by       arming local proxies — to roll back what they see as an       existential threat to their authority posed by Islamist groups       like the Muslim Brotherhood.”              And still a State Department more focused on passivity release       the following statement regarding this U.S-unauthorized action       that got results:              “Libya’s challenges are political, and violence will not resolve       them. Our focus is on the political process there. We believe       outside interference exacerbates current divisions and       undermines Libya’s democratic transition. And that’s why our       focus remains on urging all factions to come together to       peacefully resolve the current crisis.”              On second thought, I think Libya and Egypt were being       considerate of Obummer’s golf schedule. Don’t want a sleep-       deprived President teeing off on 10, do we?              http://downtrend.com/jaye-ryan/allies-leave-obama-foreign-policy-       wants-behind/                             --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
