|    St. Louis Cardinals fans taunt black pro    |

XPost: ba.politics, dc.media, soc.penpals       XPost: alt.burningman       From: pos@coonbs.com              Racial tension spilled over from Ferguson, Mo., into nearby St.       Louis on Monday night, where a handful of protesters urging       justice for Michael Brown were met by mostly white Cardinals       fans who taunted them with chants about poverty, Africa and in       support of the white officer who killed the unarmed black teen.              The ugly confrontation was caught on video outside of Busch       Stadium, where the Cardinals took on the Los Angeles Dodgers in       a National League baseball playoff game. A group of protesters       massed outside Gate 4, a smoking section outside the stadium,       and began urging “Justice for Mike Brown!” as they hoisted signs       and an upside down American flag.              “We're the ones who f-----g gave all y'all all the freedoms that       you have!" a petite blond white woman, holding a beer and rally       towel, yells at the protesters.              Brown, an unarmed 18-year-old, was shot dead in broad daylight       on Aug. 9 by Officer Darren Wilson of the Ferguson Police       Department. The 28-year-old officer has been on paid leave since       the incident nearly two months ago as a grand jury decides       whether he should face criminal charges for the killing.              Some witnesses say Brown had his hands up and was surrendering       when he was shot six times, while others say there was a tussle       immediately before shots rang out.              The killing sparked weeks of turmoil, protests and general       unrest in the mostly black suburb of St. Louis. The fiercest of       the confrontations had lately died down, but small protests,       like the one Monday night and one reported over the weekend at a       St. Louis symphony performance, have continued to pop up.              On Monday, the peaceful protests quickly turned ugly but not       violent. Smokers clad in Cardinals jersey responded to chants of       “Justice for Mike Brown!” with jeers of “Let’s Go Darren!” in       reference to Wilson. One fan taped over the name across the back       of a Cardinals jersey and hand wrote “I am Darren Wilson.”              “If they’d be working, we wouldn’t have this problem!” yelled       one elderly white man.              At one point, a woman asks the cameraman, “What are you?” and       disputes the fact he is a Marine veteran. The cameraman, Mustafa       Hussein for Argus News, later tweeted a photo of himself as a       Marine in uniform and explained that the upside American flag is       a sign of a “country in distress. And these protesters believe       the country is in distress.”              Fans later started a chant of “Get a job!” and, in response to a       chant of “USA!” one man yells “Go home” while a white woman, the       same who spoke about giving freedom, chants back, “Africa!”              Another fan tells the protesters to pull up their pants.              “Go tear your own neighborhood up, see what that does,” one man       taunts.              There was no report of arrests stemming from the oral       confrontation between the two groups.              sgoldstein@nydailynews.com              http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/st-louis-cardinals-fans-       taunt-black-protesters-urging-justice-michael-brown-article-       1.1966149                             --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
