   That they'd do it or that the bullet would lose its integrity?  If you   
   cut the end off of a ball round, you're essentially left with a straw   
   filled with lead... and it most certainly will push the lead out of   
   the jacket.  A machine gun puts a lot more pressure (and, therefore,   
   heat) on the bullet than a rifle.
