   punishment is in many cases slavery, at least deportation to segregated housing   
   where the victim is intentionally deprived and impoverished, while their   
   friends   
   and families loose them also, and are punished by that.  But that a   
   slaveholder is   
   what the U.S. government is.  90% of the slave-holding through its 50 States.   
      
   The government has not risen to the lofty level of "an eye for an eye," and   
   much   
   less the ministry of forgiveness.  But redemption has no apparent existence in   
   the   
   U.S.'s system, or any country's I know.   
      
   94%-97% of cases are decided by plea bargain, and 80% of trials end in   
   conviction,   
   meaning 1% of accused are acquitted in the U.S.A.   
      
   Of the 2.2 million prisoners, and 7+ million in the system, including probation   
   and parole, and who knows how many ex-cons, 90% are held by the State   
   Governments,   
   who's legislatures are underpaid and understaffed.
