I can't say always because I was hospitalized only once, but after 3 hours in
ICU, I was rolled into a semi-private room.  At the time, I didn't really care
as long as I was out of ICU.  The funny part came two days later when my
surgeon asked me if I had passed gas yet and I told him no.  His next question
of why not put me into laughter and I told him it''s difficult to do that when
all you've had to eat was chipped ice.  Boy, was he mad!  (-:  I could hear
his stentorian voice all the out at the nurse's station.  Five minutes later,
I had a nice tray of food.  I'm told that hospital still has very good food --
uncommon for hospitals.
