  I've got to say, I haven't been watching the sun for that long; basically
just since the start of the maxima this time around, but the amount of
filaments on there is breathtaking lately.  I guess I don't know from
experience that it's a huge amount compared to normal for this part of settling
into the minima, but the very fact that some of these filaments are large
enough so that, if they launched in the right vector, they could set us back to
the stone age really blows my mind a bit.
