The PC users in my area gathered once a month to talk about the latest trends
in viruses, new software, have lessons on various things. It's become a
nonprofit, I think, and still meets as far as I know. The underground boards
had a few users that would meet at a local coffee shop -- teens, of course.
I met up with them several times, turned out I knew a few of them. We were
close friends for a number of years.
The best fun was with the Amiga users, though. I went out several times with
them; it was my first experience at miniature golf, and we did some other fun
outings. My Amiga 500 was pretty much stock with just a floppy drive, and a
couple of the sysops let me come over and check out their systems. At the
time, those were really cool experiences.
