It's also a great way to quickly find a message that you want to refer to, and handy if you want to send a link to said message / thread to someone else in an email / IM / whatever. (For mostly that reason, I've been tinkering endlessly with my Synchronet web interface, which does a few other things but is primarily a web front end to the message areas.) > I've been playing with the various flash term programs to put them on the > site to allow for callers to telnet in, but so far it hasn't been working > out. Unfortunately, Flash applications won't get you around this problem because they will still ultimately need to connect to whatever port your telnet server is listening on (as well as to whatever port your socket policy server is bound to.) Your options are to use a nonstandard telnet port (potentially with a proxy of some kind) that falls within the range allowed by the firewall, or perhaps to use an HTML5 telnet client which will connect via a WebSockets service (which you could bind to any port you so chose.) echicken electronic chicken bbs - bbs.electronicchicken.com - 416-273-7230 --- Internet Rex 2.29 * Origin: The gateway at Diskshop BBS (1:250/8.1) |
