      XPost: bc.bcnet, bc.jobs, van.jobs       XPost: van.general, vic.general       From: m.degrace@calian.com              Type of Assignment: Full-time, Contract              Length of Assignment: 2 years with a possibility of an extension              Description of Project or Company/Organization:       The Department of National Defence (DND) intends to reallocate military       Information Technology (IT) personnel from       bases,       garrisons and wings to field and deployable units to improve their       availability for employment on higher priority       operational       tasks. To continue providing IT support, DND has a requirement for ongoing IT       professional services on a contract       basis.              Job Description:              The Operations Support Specialist duties include but are not limited to:                     • Repair, upgrade, install, troubleshoot, and maintain desktop and laptop       computer equipment and all       peripherals;       • Provide preventative maintenance of desktop and laptop computer equipment       and all peripherals;       • Upgrade and install desktop and laptop operating systems and application       software;       • Maintain records of problems reported and their resolution utilizing the       provided ITSM tool;              Mandatory Qualifications:       • Minimum 3 years experience as an Operations Support Specialist installing,       maintaining and troubleshooting       desktop and laptop computer equipment and peripherals       • Valid A+ certification or Canadian Forces Small Systems Support Specialist       course or Canadian Forces       Computer       Systems and Networking Course       • Microsoft courses or exams taken within the past 5 years excluding any       courses or exams required for A+       certification              Desirable Qualifications:              Familiarity with any of the following DND System applications:                     • ITSM tools: Support Magic SDE 9.0/9.2; Assyst and Remedy 7.1;       • Network Operating System (NOS): Microsoft Windows 2003 Server;       • Desktop Operating System (OS): Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows       XP, line-up;       • Messaging System: Microsoft Exchange; and       • Office Suite: Microsoft Office 2000 and 2003.              Special Conditions:       • Work is performed on-site       • Medical and Dental Benefits Included       • Paid Vacation and Sick Leave Included              The Business and Technology Services Division of Calian augments customer       workforces with flexible short and long       term       placements of individuals and teams, provides access to critical recruiting       capabilities and delivers outsourcing       services in a       variety of technical and professional functions.
