XPost: bc.politics, vic.general, van.general       From: gershwin@piano.ca              The polls are hugely against her staying on as NDP leader going into the next       provincial       election. About 84% of the people polled have consistently said she must step       down. Those       are HUGE numbers and she cannot go on ignoring the voters, no matter how many       supporters she       has within her own Party.              She simply hasn't got what it takes to meet the lies and games and lack of       transparency that       the BC 'Liberals' are capable of. And it has nothing to do with her being a       female party       leader. Put Joy MacPhail back into the Party's lead and you'd see the NDP       elected next time       around.              If BCers want a fresher face, they shouldn't forget Gregor Robertson, current       Vancouver       mayor. His priorities are in the right place and he's much more 'middle-left'       than many       other leaders in the province. He'd be able to take on any of the lame       turkeys who've       stepped forward to take a run at the BC 'Liberal' leadership so far.              Jenny Kwan is right about Carole James needing to step down. However, I don't       think Jenny       Kwan is right for the leadership, either. I think of the two female members       who held down       the fort on behalf of the NDP from 2001 to 2005, Joy MacPhail was clearly the       more eloquent       and the fastest on her feet. The rebound for the NDP in the 2005 election was       due to the       efforts of these two women - and the failures and games of the BC 'Liberals'       with a nearly       full House of members with almost no Opposition.              Gregor Robertson needs to hear from voter British Columbians if he's to be       swayed into       entering Provincial politics as the leader of the NDP. Certainly, he'd       already be known to       the majority of British Columbians and his record as Mayor of our largest city       speaks for       itself. If you're inclined to write him a note of encouragement, his email       address is:               gregor.robertson@vancouver.ca              And send a copy of the email to Bruce Ralston, NDP critic for Finance:               Bruce.Ralston.MLA@leg.bc.ca              Maybe the people of this province can get things rolling, where the two main       political parties       are mired in party reviews.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
