XPost: bc.politics, van.general, vic.general       From: gershwin@shawpiano.ca              They support guns. They live with guns. They think shootings. They shoot       off their mouths       because of it. Here's another rightwing type doing it from the BC 'Liberals':       ______________________________               Vancouver Sun - January 14, 2011              Kevin Krueger in hot water over attack on opponent              VICTORIA — A B.C. Liberal cabinet minister is being assailed for comments he       made on a       Kamloops radio station, where he eluded to a political opponent being shot in       the head.                     "If there ever was a guy that shouldn't put his head up to get it shot off, as       the soldiers       refer to it, it's Adrian Dix," Minister of Social Development Kevin Krueger       said in an       interview with CIFM and B100 in Kamloops.                     On Friday, Dix called Krueger's remarks "completely inappropriate", especially       given last       weekend's shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in Arizona.                     "I think they are just totally inappropriate. I think we feel it more strongly       this week,       because of all that's happened, but any week they would be completely       inappropriate and       wrong," said Dix.                     "There is a place for strong disagreement in our public life and I think       that's a good thing.       We need to have a debate about issues and there are different views but       there's no place for       this kind of thing," he added.                     "I don't have any understanding of why Premier Campbell would allow this to go       on."                     Dix, the New Democratic Party's health critic who is soon expected to launch a       leadership       bid, had been calling on the government for three years to upgrade the       sterilization unit at       the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, especially since the poor state of the       old unit has       contributed to cancelled surgeries.                     On Thursday, the BC government announced $10.7 million for a new sterilization       unit at the       hospital.                     Krueger could not be reached for comment on Friday.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
