And after all this, they have       the gall to       STILL maintain charges of 'careless use of a firearm'? Never underestimate       the abuse of power       by the police.       _______________________________________________       The Canadian Press - Feb 21, 2011              Man kicked in face gets RCMP apology              B.C. RCMP excessive force probe begins              B.C. RCMP officer has apologized to a 51-year-old       Kelowna man who was       kicked in the face by a Mountie during an arrest in January, a report says.              RCMP Assistant Commissioner Peter Hourihan visited Buddy Tavares at his home       Monday, saying       afterwards it was the first time he was able to tell Tavares how sorry the       RCMP are, according       to a report from CHBC television.              Hourihan said the 45-minute meeting was positive and went as well as could be       expected.              Tavares later said Hourihan didn't offer any compensation for the assault,       which was caught on       video and shows Tavares being kicked in the face while on his hands and knees.              Police had stopped him after shots were fired on the grounds of a golf course.              Const. Geoff Mantler has been suspended with pay and could face a charge of       assault causing       bodily harm.              Tavares faces charges of careless use of a firearm.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
