Get real. Nobody would do that every working day. Go to the Translink
site and check Vancouver to Tsawwassen ferry terminal. For the sake of
discussion, take Burrard skyrain station as departure and return
   points.
Translink site shows that it would take 1 h 10 min from Burrard to the
   ferry terminal
Ferry time only to Swartz Bay (i.e. no wait time at ferry terminal,
get off the Translink bus and jump right on the ferry) is 1 h 35 min
Bus from Swartz Bay to downtown Victoria about 1 hour.

Add it all : 3 hours and 45 minutes. And that's assuming absolutely 0
waiting time. And, since one has to come back: 7 hours and 30 minutes
   travel time.

So doing that every working day is out of the question. I even wonder
why you asked. Price wise, if the person who decides to go this way is
one of your BC Ferry union friends, chances are that he/she will
travel free on the ferry, saving something like $21.00 return. Time
wise, no advantage. Cost wise, 21 bucks less than what I would have to
pay. But doing that every day, absolutely not.
