I was at the Calgary airport in the mid 1990s and purchased a pack of
gum. The guy gave me 2 $1.00 bills and a $2 bill in my change.

   I asked "Why?".

He said "This is the Calgary airport, we still get tourists from the
1988 Winter Games, and they bring their money from those days with
   them."

By then, we'd moved on from the pink / orange $2.00 bill, and the
   $1.00 bill was history.

I suppose it would be like me taking out my old French Francs in Paris
   today.

But they would have laughed at me.
