XPost: van.general, alt.true-crime, can.politics       From: gregcarrsober@gmail.com              A former B.C. Mountie has been sentenced in U.S. court to eight years in       prison for his role in a massive drug trafficking conspiracy involving       the Hells Angels, according to American officials.              Former Abbotsford resident Rapinder Singh Sidhu plead guilty in October       to conspiracy to export cocaine after being charged and extradited to       the U.S. in 2011, U.S. attorney Jenny A. Durkan said.                     Sidhu was charged along with 56 other people as part of an international       drug trafficking investigation lead by Robert Shannon, who was sentenced       to 20 years in prison four years ago, according to Durkan.              “This defendant betrayed his community and the law enforcement officers       who risk their lives to keep us safe,” said Durkan.              “Mr. Sidhu recruited another public servant to the scheme, and used       threats of violence to force others into criminal conduct. His greed       led him to become a trusted member of an organized crime conspiracy who       sold his specialized knowledge from years in law enforcement.”              According to court documents, Sidhu left the RCMP disgruntled in 2003       and later used his law enforcement knowledge to help move large loads of       cocaine into Canada and to smuggle B.C. marijuana to the U.S.              To traffic the drugs between countries, The Western District of       Washington said Sidhu recruited a corrupt border services employee.              Following the investigation, 1,700 pounds of cocaine and $3.5 million       were seized. Including Sidhu, 54 people have been sentenced in       connection with the drug ring and two remain fugitives.              http://globalnews.ca/news/1075601/former-b-c-mountie-sentenced-t       -8-years-in-u-s-for-drug-trafficking/       --       *Read and obey the Bible*              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
