A whole lot more than the truckers' strike.

Sure doesn't say much for the current government in BC, does it - when
province-crippling unions are forced to take strike votes instead of
being able to negotiate fair agreements?

B.C. health workers to take strike vote as negotiations stall
Current collective agreement with 47,000 health care workers expires Monday

The unions seeking a strike vote in B.C. represent various care aides,
ambulance paramedics, health records staff, lab and other diagnostic
specialists, sterile supply techs, emergency dispatchers, nursing unit
clerks, trades and maintenance workers, activity aides and rehab
assistants, IT specialists, pharmacy techs, admitting and booking
clerks, administrative staff, cleaning and dietary staff, and many others.

Eleven unions representing 47,000 British Columbia health care workers
will be taking a strike vote.

The multi-union Facilities Bargaining Association says negotiations have
stalled on issues such as employment security and the contracting out of
   services.

Chief union negotiator Bonnie Pearson says health employers have also
rejected proposals to expand roles for B.C.'s paramedics, which Pearson
says would improve health service delivery.

Pearson also says health employers are not taking steps to improve
employee safety in the province’s most dangerous workplaces.

B.C. nurses endure 10 'code whites' a day for aggression
B.C. takes action to keep child forensic nurses safe

The Facilities Bargaining Association represents members who work in
hospitals, care facilities and emergency health services and includes
care aides, dietary staff, ambulance paramedics, emergency dispatchers,
cleaning staff, records and booking clerks, diagnostic specialists and
   sterile supply technicians.

The Hospital Employees' Union represents about 85 per cent of workers
   covered by the contract negotiations.

The current collective agreement expires on Monday.
