I knew who I was responding to and, being a nice guy, I've tried to
convey a few things to her as nicely as I could. Just the facts, no
insults. I even said that I regretted the incident as much as she
did -- and it's true, very true. I've been crisscrossing English Bay,
Indian Arm, the strait of Georgia, Howe Sound, the Gulf Islands, the
Sunshine Coast, Desolation Sound, the Broughtons off Port McNeill and
other beautiful places in BC on a sailboat and I would be the first to
regret an oil spill in these waters. But I would also be the first to
correct anybody who would have his/her facts(*) wrong.

(*) Wrong facts: (1) confusion between a grain bulk carrier and a
tanker and (2) the "double hull" issue.
