The Lax Kw'alaams Band              Yesterday BC learned of the Lax Kw'alaams Band's public consultation which is       opposed to the LNG project on their territory, as proposed. The Globe & Mail       reports, "The company said project leader Petronas and its five Asian partners       are willing to make        changes in response." First Nations are not the only groups who have refused       cash offers in exchange for approval of development projects. Much of the       population of Africa is the same.              China is resource hungry and for a long time has been interested in Africa. At       first the Chinese encountered many setbacks with their proposals for the       development of resources when only cash was offered. Gradually the Chinese       changed and offered        community based projects which had a same cash value. When they offered to       build highways, overpasses, schools, hospitals, etc.; they were much more       successful. Between 2002 and 2012 Chinese imports from Africa increased from       US $5 billion to US $91        billion.              Petronas and partners should come down to ground zero. The Lax Kw'alaams live       as a group in many ways. They were consulted as a group. As a group they might       be interested in Band Housing, School & Hospital, Sewage Treatment, Water       Purification, Band        Office, Community Centre, Elder Lodge, Wharf, Breakwater, Airport, Ferry       Terminal, Sidewalks, Fish Plant, General Store, etc.               JL - 14-05-2015              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
