   To be sure, the aftermath of the Fort McMurray fire has seen some of the best   
   examples of grassroots response that Canada has to offer.   
      
   Hundreds of people who ran out of gas in the rush to flee Fort McMurray last   
   Tuesday were helped by unprompted convoys of Albertans who sped north with   
   slip tanks of fuel and backseats full of diapers and granola bars.
